Diagnostic Testing

Our laboratory provides accurate, reliable, and timely diagnostic testing to support infectious disease surveillance, public health activities, and clinical management. Using advanced molecular and microbiological techniques, we identify pathogens, their prevalent strains, and antimicrobial resistance patterns; monitor disease trends; and generate high-quality data that contribute to evidence-based clinical and public health decision-making. Our testing and surveillance activities adhere to the One Health framework, encompassing the human, animal, plant, and environmental sectors.

Currently, we conduct diagnostic testing for a range of infectious diseases, including PCR testing for dengue, chikungunya, leptospirosis, and scrub typhus, and antigen testing for acute respiratory tract infections (influenza, SARS-CoV-2, and Streptococcus pneumoniae). This testing will be expanded in coming weeks to include PCR-based testing for influenza, SARS-CoV-2, and respiratory syncytial virus.

Training and guidance for testing activities are provided through the Duke Center for Infectious Disease Diagnostics and Innovation (CIDDI), the Duke Hubert Yeargan Centre for Global Health (HYC), and the Duke Global Health Institute (DGHI).
