Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama currently serves as the President of the Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) and was the former Chairman of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA).

He played a key role in COVID-19 prevention efforts as the Director General of Health Services and a Senior Consultant Physician at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH).

Dr. Wijewickrama”s  areas of expertise include clinical immunology, hepatology, infectious diseases, and tropical diseases, with a focus on viral infections and dengue.
