Dr. Chandanamali Punchihewa

Dr. Chandanamali Punchihewa is the CEO and Chief Scientist at Genelabs Medical. She holds an Honours degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Colombo and a PhD from the University of Arizona, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, USA.

Dr. Punchihewa specializes in anti-cancer drug discovery and is a co-inventor of a US patent for a potential anti-cancer drug.

Her research focuses on the molecular pathology of brain cancers, with several high-impact publications.

Dr. Punchihewa has been a key contributor to establish the Molecular Diagnostics Lab at Lanka Hospitals Diagnostics and introduced new molecular diagnostic tests for prenatal testing and cancer.
